How the Great Fortunes Grow: The State Lends a Helping Hand, a review of Wealth and Democracy: A Political History of the American Rich, by Kevin
Phillips. Intresting sounding book best summed:

Ranging from chapter to chapter across oceans and centuries, Mr. Phillips constructs a complex analogy between the United States at its superpower zenith and its imperial predecessors in Spain, Holland and Great Britain. His argument isn�t easily summarized, but in essence he�s warning us of certain symptoms that eventually grip all the great capitalist powers: concentration of wealth, polarization of classes, irrational speculation, excessive luxury, technological mania, government corruption, market idolatry and political alienation. He believes that we are being led down the same spiraling path, toward the same dead end.

Photographs and Postcards of Lynching in America, warning images were intesely disturbing. I was not able ot go through them all, it was just so disturbing. As far as i got the majority were black males and all were in the south. The thing is I have heard stories and knew that lynching was a part of the South’s history but to see postcard pictures of the event just begins to illustrate how bad the situation was then.

Intresting comment in the Is Programming a Dead End Job?

Real money always has been, and probably always will be, in starting a business and skimming off the top of other workers. Once you can pay other people less than you can get for their work, you have escaped the limit, and your “job” is no longer a dead-end.

Aside from the comment I and many of my former coworkers seem to be going through some of the same wonderings about working in the tech industry. Hell, even arcterex is looking becomming a Mountie. But to put it all into prespective there are people in the world that feel their best carear choice is becomming a bomb. Maybe being an IT worker isn’t such a bad gig.

Truly disgusting. What a retchid state the US is ataining under Bush. A nation for the corporation, willing to sell to the highest bidder. Sickened that I have payed for these monkeys to ruin the place of my birth they are like a bunch of Ferengi. To all the non Americans out there I’m truely sorry for the crap that the nation of my birth is doing the world. To all you who voted for and support Bush, fuck off, go to hell, eat shit and die, you get the idea.
