In our previous tutorial, we created a personal notes storage database using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. In this tutorial, we’re going to explore the UI features of the AIR platform by building a simple Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application. We’ll use those same technologies, as well as a local SQLite database.
-
The Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR) platform changes the game for web developers, taking standard web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and bringing them into a desktop application environment. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to build a personal notes database with Adobe AIR.

For most developers, security is a prime concern when developing web applications: Password fields, SSL connections, and likely additional measures on the server. What happens when you're developing a desktop application for Adobe AIR where there is no server? With features like file IO, you could clearly store sensitive information on disk, but you don't want to use plain text. This article explores the encrypted local store feature in Adobe AIR to help you protect your users' data.
-
Adobe provides three assets that are essential to the deployment of AIR applications: the Adobe AIR install badge, the Adobe AIR browser API, and the Flash Player Detection Kit. When you use all of these tools, you can create a seamless installation process that installs the needed components for your AIR applications.
-
The update framework supplies a default user interface that your application can use. It provides the user with basic information and options related to application updates. Your application can also also define its own custom user interface for use with the update framework.

Badger is a Flex application built on AIR that enables developers to easily create install badges for their applications (see Figure 1). The application was created by Grant Skinner for Adobe Systems, Inc.
Badger includes the following features:
* Rapid configuration: Simply open the AIR file within the Badger application to retrieve information required for the install badge.
* Visual configuration: Preview the badge and make any necessary changes.
* Simple cut-and-paste deployment: Export and cut and paste the code to your web page.

John Walcott warns: 'Instead of being members of the Fourth Estate, too many Washington reporters have been itching to move up an estate or two.' He also argues against the notion that truth can be found midway between the two opposing poles of any argument.

Here is Sillof’s follow up to the popular line from the last 2 CustomCons. Formerly called Steampunk Star Wars, the line has been officially changed to Steam Wars. This time Sillof is taking on the Return of the Jedi. His re-visioned characters are full of retro-futurism twists and antiquated design elements. Great lengths were taken to give the entire line of over 30 figures a cohesive aesthetic.
This line goes even bigger then the previous ones with vehicles and playsets this time. The line is 6” in scale and each figure was carefully sketched out and redesigned taking a few key classic elements of the original characters and blending them with his own unique archaic feel. -

I want to take a bunch of HTML nodes and do following things with them
* make those items scrollable horizotally or vertically
* decide how many items are visible at once
* scroll elements with mouse, arrow keys and mousewheel (requires mousewheel.js)
* make navigational buttons without programming
* have programmatic actions: next, prev, nextPage, prevPage, seekTo, begin, end
* need to know when list is scrolled with custom event listener
* I want this all in single js file that weights only 3.9 Kb!

Having seen this new R-Strap device on the market, I took it upon myself to make an effective DIY version for as little as money as possible. Two reasons ran the making of this
1.) I'm a DIYer
2.) I don't want to dish out $50USD then have it shipped to Canada.
The strap is supposed to help with being able to retrieve your camera quickly for taking pictures without the strap getting in your way. Also it helps relieve the strain of carrying the camera around your neck for long periods of time.

FastPictureViewer is a small and fast color-managed image viewer designed for professional photographers, so simple compared to usual photo viewers that its purpose might not be immediately apparent. The program is optimized to do just one task: browse entire folders of digital photos as quickly as possible. It allows for rapid sharpness checks (instant flip to 100% view), supports single-click copy of the keepers to a preset folder, along with single-keystroke Adobe XMP and Vista rating. A small EXIF window coupled with an instant, high-precision RGB histogram give you all the information you need about the pictures. That's about it, but it makes for one of the fastest image culling tool available, also ideal for full-screen chimping directly off the camera (or memory card), over USB2. Of course FastPictureViewer can just as well be used for speed-browsing, rating or labeling an existing picture collection, but it does not offer any image editing function, it's just a bare bone and ..
