Friday Five: Hobbies

What are your hobbies? Pencil and paper Role Playing Games, most recently the Star Wars RPG from the 80’s.
Do you collect anything? Used to collect books and RPG stuff. Now just download it all.
Is there a hobby you’re interested in, but just don’t have the time/money to do? I have always wanted tp play the guitar but never really pursued it.
Have you ever turned a hobby into a moneymaking opportunity? Well all my playing with puters has certianly helped in the job market.
Besides web-related stuff (burbs, rings, etc.), what clubs do you belong to? Currently don’t belong to any clubs. Used to back in the high school and college days.

Dead End IT

Intresting comment in the Is Programming a Dead End Job?

Real money always has been, and probably always will be, in starting a business and skimming off the top of other workers. Once you can pay other people less than you can get for their work, you have escaped the limit, and your “job” is no longer a dead-end.

Aside from the comment I and many of my former coworkers seem to be going through some of the same wonderings about working in the tech industry. Hell, even arcterex is looking becomming a Mountie. But to put it all into prespective there are people in the world that feel their best carear choice is becomming a bomb. Maybe being an IT worker isn’t such a bad gig.

It was the dawning of the second age of parrotkind, ten weeks after the great GC war. The Parrot Project was a dream given form. Its goal: To prevent language wars by creating an interpreter where perl and other languages could reside peacefully… It can be a dangerous place, but it’s our last best hope for peace. This is the story of the latest of the Parrot releases. The year is 2002. The name of the tarfile is Parrot 0.0.5.
