A holiday gift from UserLand

“Dear EditThisPage.Com webmasters:

We’re removing the 60-day limit.

We will continue to host your EditThisPage.Com site at no charge for the indefinite future.

This offer is good for any EditThisPage.Com site created in 1999.

That means that if you already have a site, or if you create one on or before 12/31/99, you’ve got place to host it as long as we’re running EditThisPage.Com. (Subject to the terms and conditions of the usage agreement, of course.)

What does the future hold?

Let’s find out!”

Thanks for the present Dave, sorry I didn’t get you anything but maybe I can send you some traffic. I already have mine Fozbaca.EditThisPage.Com. Go and try it out.

“The ‘maintenance fee’ needs to go. No more breaking backwards compatibility to sell more boxes. If you’ve based your company’s sales on this concept, you need to re-think it as soon as possible. Choose an Open Source business plan, or release ‘fixes’ for no cost.”

World Domination by Eric S.

World Domination by Eric S. Raymond

“The future of “no domination anywhere” will be a better world; not a perfect one, but perhaps the best that we, working as
designers and programmers, can hope to create. So if you aren’t yet part of our barbarian horde, join us! There’s a lot of
working and playing to be done in order to get from here to there. It won’t be hard to find us; we’ll be the mob yelling “World
domination now!”–and smiling.”

Eric Raymond In The Cab

Eric Raymond In The Cab Going to The Bazaar

Eric: I think that the most important thing is not Linux in itself dominating the world, but Open Source infrastructure dominating the world. Solving the software quality problem. It’s because Linux right now is our most plausible means to that end that I back it.”

Good one Eric. There other OpenSource operating systems. Daemon News covers BSD News for starters.
