Fitts’ What?

Fitts’ Law from the KDE User Interface Guidelines

Summary

  • Bigger Is Better for buttons, especially on toolbars.
  • Use screen corners and edges.
  • Macintosh-style menus are faster than Windows/Unix-style, because they’re on the screen edge.
  • Never put a one-pixel non-clickable boundary around buttons on the screen edge.
  • Circular (pie) popup menus are faster than linear popup menus.

Because they can’t be repeated enough.

Ar you Grunge?

I am 20% Grunge.
I will get out of your sight. I’m pathetic! With my clean clothes, and nice smell. I think I took the wrong test, thank god, huh?

Thanksgiving

Some of the things I’m thankful for this year. Getting to talk to Daisy, my goddaughter who is about 2 1/2 years old, this week. She said, “Wha up Brian?” which was ever so cute. Thankful for the family back in Kentucky. It was great to get to talk to them and hear the “HI BRIAN!” from all the realatives in the background. Thankful I have a job. Thankful for the expatriot and significate other thanks giving dinner at iambe and engel‘s place. Of all things thankful I’m in the beautiful BC Canada. It’s fun here and hopefully I will get to say for a bit longer. Thankful for getting the day off even though everyone else up here celebrated Thanksgiving back in October. It was nice to have a day mostly away form the computer and walk around and think of all the things I’m thinkfull for.
And some past Thanksgiving thankfulls at fozbaca.org.

Something Strange Happened

Looks like RMS, of the starting the GNU/Linux, amoung other acts like writing some really good software, has applied to be a Debian Maintainer. You can check his progress if you so desire. There is somethign bizarelly strange about this bit of news. Kinda like hearing arcterex say X, Y & Z instead of X, Y & Zeta.
