An Economist article on imigration
Rich countries should recognise the benefits of immigrants and keep the costs in perspectivea
Liberals abandon their tolerance, and their professed dislike of government restrictions. Socialists speak of job-stealers. Conservatives mutter about spongers and scroungers, forgetting that immigrants generally bring with them the qualities of thrift, hard work and enterprise.
Speaking as someone who does live in a country other than their birth and citizenship, the more open and unrestricted the borders the better. It can be truely crazy what one has to go through to move to another country, even from the US to Canada which share the longest “unguarded” border in the world.
