Da Vinci Code, The Movie

Da Vinci Code was well kinda boring. Seems that in there attempt to not piss anyone off they turned it into a pretty mediocre made for TV movie. What a shame. The book was a good read and had some intresting things to say between the pseudo history.

Nunc Dimittis

Read it. Seldom can so few words make one laugh and cry.
I am reminded of why I once wanted to become a priest but didn't.

Churches and Websites

Why Churches Should Have Websites
First reason: "No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house." ...
And more why every organization can use a website and even individuals.

What is a Just War?

I'm glad to have found St Thomas Aquinas' Conditions for a Just War which I first remembered encountering during the first U.S. vs. Iraq War baci in '90 and '91. At the time I wanted to go on the record as being a concious objector, simply put my religon had to all for concious objection and I had to be on record with some leader of my religon that I was one. Being Roman Catholic concious objection is allowed if the War was an Unjust War as defined by the above link.

What Christian Theologian are You?

"It is the chiefest point of happiness that a man is willing to be what he is."
You are Desiderius Erasmus!
You have great love for others and will do just about anything to show it to them. You are tolerant and avoid confrontations, so people generally are drawn to you. You are more quiet and reserved in front of strangers, but around some people you open up. When things get tough, you like to meditate alone. Unfortunately you often get things like "what a pansy," or "you're such a liberal."

Description of Buddhism

The Snelling Sutra

What is Buddhism About?
Basically the question is: How can you achieve release from suffering? The Buddha found that there are certain steps that can be taken. Buddhism therefore offers its followers things that they can do rather than things for them to believe.
When people are meditating, they are not frantically caught up in all the pictures and thoughts that are milling about in their heads. Rather, they are peacefully allowing these to settle down. They do not, however, allow their minds to go blank. In fact, they stay very alert and watch everything that comes into their minds.
