Dammit the W3 is about

Dammit the W3 is about to join the wrong side of the patent game with W3C Patent Policy Framework. Currently W3 recommendations (standards) are not supposed to allow non royalty free intellectual property to be a part of said recommendation. The new W3 Pattent Policy would allow reasonable, non-discriminatory (RAND) which really means that massive patten holding companies like IBM, Microsoft, Sun, and Apple, just to name a few, would be able to easily co-opt the web. That is it for my little summary some others explain it all much better, like Linux Kernel guru Alan Cox. The W3 is accepting comments but act fast this one has had one of the shortest times at final draft status, not even 2 months, and receipt for comments ends today.
